AL SHAHRANI

AL SHAHRANI

We are pleased to announce that AL SHAHRANI, affectionately known as Arnie, a multi champion ridden gelding will be returning to the show ring in 2011 produced and ridden by Tina.

AL SHAHRANI had an exemplary novice season in 2005 with many wins and championships including 2nd Novice Gelding at the British National Championships, culminating in taking the Reserve Reserve Championship at the British Arabian Championships. No mean feat for a novice gelding. He subsequently stepped up into the open classes, taking a 3rd place at HOYS, in his first open season. In his final season he took several ridden championships including the British Arabian Championships and pulled a credible 2nd place at Horse of the Year Show.

His first appearance this season will be at the North Staffs Spring Show on the 24th April where he will be appearing with AJA ESTAREYNA who is continuing her education before her first full novice season. Hope to see you there.

Back in the Saddle

Wednesday, April 20th, 2011

The new venue for the Northern Group Spring show at Bishop Burton was very impressive with excellent facilities and being reasonably local to us, it was a good place for Tina to embark on her first real competitive outing, for what seemed like to us, an age ago. Tina Commented just before she went into the ring “It was good to be back in the saddle and competing again, after such a long enforced absence” and confessed “I am a little apprehensive having not competed for such a long time”.

We have always supported, where we can, the spring shows as they provide the opportunity (more…)

Let the Games Begin

Saturday, April 16th, 2011

Once again after another cold dark winter, another season is upon us. We are probably keener than most to get going as we have missed three competitive seasons since Tina broke her leg, back at the start of the 2008 season. Though we maintained our involvement in showing during this period, there is nothing quite like getting out there and being involved in the thick of the action.

We are kicking off our campaign at the Northern Group Spring Show, at Bishop Burton College in Beverley. We will be taking TRUE ADDICTION an open gelding and AJA ESTAREYNA who last competed in 2008 at this same event and won. If you are going, we look forward to seeing you there and if not, we will catch up with you as the season progresses. Good luck to one and all. Let the games begin.

Cheshire County show is held in the middle of June. The showground setting is excellent. It is a very good standard county show with a Horse of the Year Qualifier attached to it. The classes are split into mares, geldings and stallions, but there are no novice classes, only open.

The ring is large, flat and on grass. The surrounding (more…)

Horse of the Year Show

It was with great relief to read in the most recent edition of the Arab Horse Society News, that the AHS council gave the HOYs committee the authority to negotiate a contract, which they have done and signed, that secures HOYs classes for the Pure Bred Arabians until 2013.

We at Aklah Arabians would like to thank the HOYs Committee for their hard work and the AHS for understanding the importance and prestige that the HOYs classes bring to the Arabian World. HOYs, bar none, is the biggest window in the UK outside of the Arabian World, where we can promote and demonstrate what a beautiful and elegant breed the Pure Bred Arabian horse is.

We must not however become complacent as the announcement clearly demonstrates that there is still plenty of hard work in front of us, to ensure that a platform is laid down that guarantees the breed is represented at HOYs well into the future. I therefore implore those of you who are as passionate as we are, in ensuring we have a long and prosperous involvement with HOYs, give your support and help to the HOYs committee, where you can.

See you at HOYs.
