Horse of the Year Show

Horse of the Year Show

It was with great relief to read in the most recent edition of the Arab Horse Society News, that the AHS council gave the HOYs committee the authority to negotiate a contract, which they have done and signed, that secures HOYs classes for the Pure Bred Arabians until 2013.

We at Aklah Arabians would like to thank the HOYs Committee for their hard work and the AHS for understanding the importance and prestige that the HOYs classes bring to the Arabian World. HOYs, bar none, is the biggest window in the UK outside of the Arabian World, where we can promote and demonstrate what a beautiful and elegant breed the Pure Bred Arabian horse is.

We must not however become complacent as the announcement clearly demonstrates that there is still plenty of hard work in front of us, to ensure that a platform is laid down that guarantees the breed is represented at HOYs well into the future. I therefore implore those of you who are as passionate as we are, in ensuring we have a long and prosperous involvement with HOYs, give your support and help to the HOYs committee, where you can.

See you at HOYs.

True Addiction Northern C Show

True Addiction Northern C Show

Even the professionals have bad days; the amateurs always think it is against them. But not on this occasion.

We attended the northern group C show on Sunday 20th June with Sarah our resident rider who had just returned from a 3 week holiday in Canada and myself, still out of action and recovering from a broken leg. During Sarahs absence I was left with no other option but to find a rider to try and keep two horses schooled and (more…)

Grandstand Media the organisation that runs Horse of the Year Show are proposing a change to the way that competitors will qualify for what is considered by many in the Ridden Arabian showing world as the most prestigious show in the calender. The proposal is to change from a first past the post system, to setting up a qualification league, where a competitor would collect points determined by their placings at each qualification show they attend. It has not been clarified exactly how this system would operate if it was adopted but it would be at least two years before it would be implemented.

True Addiction before his class

True Addiction before his class

What a change in the weather, from competing in near winter conditions at the Staff spring show to competing in glorious sunshine here at the North West Group Show at Aintree. The facilities here are excellent and the air conditioning in the indoor arena was much appreciated on the day, keeping the horses and riders cool.

TRUE ADDICTION was being ridden in (more…)

Well Turned Out Ridden Arabian

Well Turned Out Ridden Arabian
